Ugh. so my father was supposed to care for my crested until his enclosure was all set up at my moms. Well... I drop by to check on him, and he is skin and bones.. I can count his vertabreas. It's awful. He can barely even lift his head. So... now the question is how can i get weight on him?
He wont even look the direction of my dubias.. and im going to buy some crix tonight and see if he'l even attepmt to go after them. Ive been syringe feeding him repta-aid 2Xs a day, but its hard to get him to even lick his lips... and I HATE using the syringe to open his tiny little fragile mouth.
We are new to geckos (and not crested, we just got a leopard) so I'm sure I have nothing new to share, but wondered if he might like some wiggly mealworms to entice him? (do cresteds eat worms?) The only other thing I thought of was to make sure he's hydrated, maybe a warm soak would help with that.
Poor little guy. I hope he begins eating for you again.
edited to add: I'm afraid I've overstepped my experience level here. I was gazing over at www.geckoforums.net and apparently I'm clueless about cresteds, sorry. I have no idea if my advice was helpful or ignorant. They seem to be very interesting though.
