Hello my name is Enrique Garcia, first of all I apologize for my English so basic, I'm from Colombia and I need expert help very urgently, I have a female pogona 1 year and 5 months of age, as is 50 cms and weighs 600 grams, it worries me because all I see are thin dragons, she only eats vegetables and 3-4 adult cockroaches week, she does not eat mealworms or superworms. I've tried everything because besides not eat by herself, but she walks a lot, I keep using the same parameters always. let me know if you see it and if in obese overweight, and I need your advice to whet the appetite of it again, I made a stool for parasites was negative and I'm desperate, greetings and thank you very much.
Hi Enrique....that is one beautiful beardie ! She looks very good and healthy, she doesn't need to be heavier at all. She is eating what she wants, the vegetables are very good for an adult and so she is eating what her body tells her she needs. Have you evet tried crickets? She might enjoy those. But she looks great, you are taking good care of her....she is the right size.
What a beautiful girl! I have a very similar looking beardie named Dubs who is also very round.
When folks on this website post a picture of a chubby beardie, it seems that very often those beardies are that yellow/gold color. This makes me wonder if that particular morph tends to gain weight more easily than others. Dubs is bright orange too, and eats lots of veggies but I limit his bugs to about 1/2 to 3/4 of what other beardies eat because he's so heavy. He gets a good amount of exercise and seems to feel fine, he's just chunky. Sweetest baby ever.
Hi there, my beardie Moki has a similar body shape - quite round and plump when perched on her log, and even has a bit of a belly when standing upright. I try to let her out in my very safe room and roam. She hasn't lost too much weight because I think I may be feeding her a bit too many mealworms (which she loves). She gets plenty of greens every day so I think I just need to cut down on her mealworms. Here is Moki, who is quite the character:
I agree, that is a beautiful dragon. I also have a chunky 9 year old female dragon and a very thin rescued male dragon. I would rather see a fat one than a skinny one any day
Cattle get fat and all they eat is grass! Don't worry unless her weight hinders her moving around.
