Hi everyone, I’m really worried about larry

she hasn’t eaten in about 2 weeks, her eyes are closed most of the time and shes been refusing to eat

I can see that there’s dirt in her nostrils or it might be skin from shedding but like it seems like she cant breathe very well
she occasionally opens her mouth too like shes breathing out of her mouth
shes been very not active and within the past 10 minutes shes been trying to claw her way out of her enclosure.

i tried to get the dirt out of her nostrils with tweezers but she keeps flinching away like it hurts her and i dont want to force it

someone please help I’m literally so freaked out right now

Hello,

How long has she been breathing strangely?
Can you review your tank lighting, such as the type/brand of UVB, temperatures, supplementation, etc?
A lot of times, they do have a hard time breathing through their nostrils when their head & face is going to
shed. It is hard to tell, but is her entire head going to shed?
Since she isn't eating right now, you can go ahead & try getting some organic chicken or turkey baby food,
mixed with sweet potato or squash baby food. You can drop it onto the end of the nose with a plastic dropper to drop the food onto the end of her nose. She should hopefully lick the food off of her nose that way.
Where are you located, in the US or UK?

Maybe use a damp towel to try and loosen her nostrils. Not wet though, you don't want to get water in her nostrils, just damp enought to maybe loosen the clogs.

About a week and a half She’s been breathing weird. I do not know the setup information, I got the heat lamp from my dad and he doesn’t know anything about it. she shed a month ago and there was still tiny scales needing to come off around her mouth area that I helped get off. It’s not just scales that’s trapped in her nostrils, it’s dirt from when she buries herself at night.
thank you Tracie, I will try that. i got a little of the dirt out of her nose, she seems to be breathing easier but her mouth still opens really wide and I’m not entirely sure why. I’m in the US.

I wonder if you could use one of the suction bulbs used to clear a babies nose to very gently try to clear Larrys. I saw them in the baby section at Walgreens a few days ago. You should be able to get one anywhere that sells baby supplies.
If you do try that, be EXTREMELY cautious and don't use excessive suction, it might could damage her lungs.

Hello,

Any of those suggestions are good. A swab is helpful for using to remove stuck shed as well, plus, it's nice
& soft also.
Larry looks like a Spiny tail lizard or Tree lizard. Is that correct?
If at all possible, we need to know the UVB type & brand as well as the type of basking bulb, too. The temperatures are important, too. Are you using a digital probe or a temp gun to measure the
temperatures?
Let us know how she is doing?

Hi Tracie,
shes doing a lot better since I got some of the dirt out of her nose, but she’s still refusing to eat and her eyes are closed most of the time. Shes a blue belly (western fence lizard). i don’t have a uvb bulb I just have a heat lamp you’d buy at Walmart or petco or something like that

You might want to try to get her into some real sunlight. Even if its just opening a window that has a screen in it (so she doesn't bolt and run off) (fence lizards are crazy quick)
She for sure needs uvb light to stay healthy, they bask in the sun same as beardies.

Hello,

Oh ok! She sure looks like a Tree Lizard or AKA Spiny tail. Very pretty girl!
I'm glad she is doing better once you have gotten some of the dirt cleared out of her nose. I bet she can
breathe better too. Keep us posted on her!

Sir Henry the dragon
Looking for his dragon girl
Ventures out in to the wide world
His hopes are up but as you can see
There is no dragon girl for Sir Henry
A light bulb goes off and he takes mom aside
Could you perchance get me a mail order bride ?

Hey! We’re the same age! That’s cool!
Hi there a little update we went from a 50 watt heat lamp to a 100 watt basking halogen heat lamp hahaha I saw some comments about it being so close so I made sure to put it a ruler away from her
