This is my little girl, Tess... We think she's a girl.
Yesterday my boyfriend was standing and she jumped out of his hand onto the floor. About a 4' drop. Today she seems fine, wouldn't eat but that isn't unusual with her. She's moving around very actively, acting normal, but I saw this on her belly.

Is this something serious? Please tell me it is just a bruise and that I am over reacting. I'm really worried for her.

It's hard to tell because I'm on my phone, but that looks like the shadow of her internal organs. You can often see dark shapes through their bellies. I will take another look tomorrow too when I can check from a bigger screen. If it is a bruise, I wouldn't worry, leos are tough little critters and as long as she's eating and drinking it should be just fine. I'll post again tomorrow.

I dropped my bf's gecko at around 4 feet when we first got him. He did a bounce and laid there and I was certain he was dead but he ended up being just fine. Don't worry about it too much. If she doesn't eat or seems in pain then go to a vet, otherwise don't stress too much

Oh yeah, now that I can see it full size, that definitely just looks like her internal organs. I think the dark spot is the liver.

You can often see through leos' bellies, for instance here's a gravid female, you can see the eggs and also her liver:

And just another belly for comparison:

Don't feel too badly about the fall, geckos can be flighty little buggers even when they're tame. In fact my six-year-old female wriggled out of my hand and took a nosedive onto a hardwood floor four feet below, a few weeks ago. I think it upset me more than it upset her, as she's completely fine. They just don't seem to understand the concept of gravity or that things have edges you can fall from, and even when you're experienced in handling them, they can still wriggle and move surprisingly fast.

I love my two girls but one of the reasons I wanted a beardie was to have something big enough to hold and that wouldn't be constantly doing that. XD Some people take their leos out and about but I worry too much to try it because they just don't stay put.

Thank God. I never saw it on Ava, our other leo, so this was really scary. She was running around like a champ right after, but still scared me. I think giving their slaves heart attacks is their thing.

Hey! I'm planning on ordering a 4x2x2 for my next beardie but I'm worried about lighting. I have a UVA and a UVB but they are small (the UVA just being a bulb and the UVB being 12 ish inches?) My house is drafty so I need a strong light that puts off quite a good amount of heat, any suggestions?
cookie event at my library today, quite fun! Made some bracelets for my comrades too, to give them at church in the morning. Got a busy day tomorrow even though I’m off work… i go back on tuesday so atleast I’ll have 2 days off to rewind….then back to hell lol
