Please help. I came home and my bearded dragon seemed a bit lethargic, he was breathing heavily, and he wasn't using his back legs much. He is also sticking the tip of his tongue out for long periods. He seems weak. He is shedding currently or at least almost done. I did get him to drink some water and eat some applesauce. I read that he might be constipated, so I have him soaking in a bath propped up on a basking rock. I also rubbed his tummy down to his vent. A string of skin got pushed out and I gently pulled it out. He seemed a bit better but still weak and having a hard time moving. Please help, does anyone know what could be wrong???

How old is the dragon? Surface basking temps w/ a digital probe thermometer should be 95-100 for 6 months + and 105-110 6 months and under --- the bulb your using is not up to par --- you want a wattage bulb that is solid clear bright white that keeps those temps posted -- a long tube fixture for a UVB --- your dragon is getting sick please fix the lighting pronto --- here are 3 good UVB's please get one
24 inch fixture for a 40 + gallon tank
Zoo Med this comes w/ a 5.0 bulb please get the bulb I am posting as well
Zoo Med ReptiSun T5 HO Hood
22" Zoo Med ReptiSun 10.0 UVB T5 HO
this one can be found at Pet Smart if you have one
you want the 12% bulb 24 watt they are out of stock on the website the 39 watt is shown
Arcadia ProT5 12% UVB Bulb With Hood
you will need to change the bulb out on this fixture to the one posted above - you want the 2 ft or 24 inch
these things I posted are crucial to the dragons overall health and behavior ---
solid clear bright white bulbs are Flukers basking -- Exo Terra Intense and Arcadia Halogen are examples -- NO off white yellowish or colored or Daytime bulbs please

Hello,

Sorry your little one is having trouble.
As Karrie suggested, you will need to use a digital probe thermometer for better accuracy on reading
the temperatures. He will need a basking spot of around 95-110F since he is a youngster.
How often are you giving calcium for him?
I am not exactly sure what you mean by a string of skin being excreted? Was it a string of urates?

Hey! I'm planning on ordering a 4x2x2 for my next beardie but I'm worried about lighting. I have a UVA and a UVB but they are small (the UVA just being a bulb and the UVB being 12 ish inches?) My house is drafty so I need a strong light that puts off quite a good amount of heat, any suggestions?
cookie event at my library today, quite fun! Made some bracelets for my comrades too, to give them at church in the morning. Got a busy day tomorrow even though I’m off work… i go back on tuesday so atleast I’ll have 2 days off to rewind….then back to hell lol
