Hello my bearded dragon Arthur has been acting really lethargic for three weeks. He just been laying in his hammock by his heat side. He still is eating like normal but isn’t pooping and he takes naps lore often then normal.
I took him to the vet and they said he looked completely fine and could find anything wrong and even got him to poop. They said the next step would to be blood work that was a week ago. Idk what to do he’s normally very active.
Do you know if they did a enema on Arthur? Was he acting this way before you took him in or has he gotten worse? What are you using for a UVB? Please NO coils --- what are his basking temps and how are you taking them? Please NO stick ons
Hello yes they did do an enema on him. He was acting this way so I took him in and she couldn’t find anything wrong with him. He’s using the reptisun 10.0 UVB 18 inch bar one and I am using zoo med 100 W basking bulb I had 150 before but the vet thought that maybe he was too warm because it was 110 in his tank. So I switched it to 100 w. I have a Digital thermometer in his tank normally but it died this past week so have to replace it. He hasn’t gotten worse just stayed the same. He’s almost three and has never acted like this before.
Is he walking ok? The UVB is where in the tank? If there is a cover over the UVB fixture please take it off-- if it's on top of your screen please get it inside the tank and you want it directly above the basking decor approx 6-8 inches-- the bulb should not be over 6 months old--- please get a digital probe thermometer-- the probe should be placed on the spot where he sits for basking wait 10 min the get temp - the probe does not haft to stay there but I would spot check your temps every so often
He’s waking normally he runs when I take him out of his tank he just doesn’t ask to be let out of his the uvb is on the cool side of his tank then he had an upstairs that has his basking spot.
Tank anymore. And are you saying put the uvb bulb by his basking Area? I just changed the bulb in November I make sure to change it every six months.
Ok so the tank is two levels? Can you post a pic of his tank please? Where is he sitting now? You said he's lethargic- is he on the cool side of the tank or under the basking area- please get a accurate basking temp w/ the digital probe thermometer- it should be 95-110 older dragons do not like real hot temps---
I recommend you upgrade the UVB to a T 5 and go w/ a 24" hood w/ a reflector-- at the way it's set up now your dragon is not getting or very little uvb-- the T 8 is too weak for a tank your size- and it should be directly over him 6-8 inches--
When they don't get proper uvb this how they behave get your uvb upgraded and proper placed and his behavior should change- uvb and basking temps are the most important things in the tank
