Hi everyone. My name is Jackie and I'm the four week owner of a male bearded dragon. His name is Spikey and he is my first beardie. although I'm only 12, he has been doing fine. He's shedding right now so he's not eating as much as he used to. He's only 16 inches but he seems very healthy. Spikey's three and a half years. I'm hoping that when I'm advance enough and have enough money, I can breed him since he has never been housed with another beardie once he and his siblings were too big to be housed together.(too big as in they bully one another, not size wise)
Welcome to the site, if your twelve you should ever breed, school will ruin the chances. The babies need to fed ever four hours and you can go through 5000-1000 crickets a week. It will cost you more than you make for the first few breedings.
Maybe 300-500 to begin with, and then once they hatch you have to feed which will cost even more.
Wait untill your 18, it will be much eaiser. Most of the time breeding beardies is a full time job.
I'd love to post pictures of my precious Spikey. However, I don't know how. Canyou show me? Even after you show me, I'd probably have to wait a while since he's shedding right nowand looks like his skin is falling apart but he doesn't have enough money to buy a new one. Maybe you can tell me how and I'll post pictures as soon as he's done looking like a beggar beardie. (but he's a very cute begar) OMG! When I was typing, Spikey jumped of the chair. When I got him up again, he just jumped off again. "Spikey, never scare me like that again! But I still love you." Now he's runnig away from me. He's so cute!
I have been using photobucket for a long time for storing my pictures. It's worked out very well for putting pics on this site with my posts....and it's free.
First go to http://www.photobucket.com and create an account. Then upload your pics from your computer into your photobucket account.
Once you have them loaded, underneath each one will be an html address. Then:
1. While typing the body of your post on this site, click the "Img" button above.
2. Copy the html address under your photo on the photobucket site into the body of your post on this forum (right after you click Img).
3. After pasting, then click the "Img" button above again.
4. When finished with entire post click "Submit".
Thank you for the info. Spikey doesn't look like he's a beggar(a cute one at that) anymore. In fact, he looks a lot like a laser surgeon. He's a normal colour beardie but the skin under the one heshed is grey. Now he looks at me like "Hey! What are you looking at?!" He's very cute. Altough he's only 16 inches and three and a half, he's my little baby boy. Do you think it's a good idea to house another beardie by his cage? He seems lonely when I'm gone. I want to give him lots of attention but sometimes a can't. I take him out at least once a day but that doesn't seem enough for him. He also thinks he's a human. Do beardies get jealous?
