Hello, my name is Bo and I just got a new juvenile dragon. I dont know the exact age but hes around 6 inches. I decided to name him Apollo because he's supposed to be orange when he gets older. Hes doing surprisingly well, and we seem to already get along. My only concern is that it isnt hot enough in his tank and ill be getting a thermometer and a 100 w light bulb. Is there anyway to kinda tell without one? Like should it feel really hot or just warm. Anyway, I'll probably be an active member on this site because im new to the bearded dragon world. Thank you, Bo
Sure. I'll be honest its not great. I got one of those kits at petsmart (All living things, 40 gal) and I bought a rock and a branch for decoration. I also have a plastic tote in there for extra height. He seems to be doing much better since I added the tote.
Let me start by saying congratulations on getting your new owner ( I mean pet). These little rascals can get expensive but are very rewarding.
First what are your basking warm end and cool end Temps?
Secondly what kind of uvb bulb are you using?
I and many others agree that the coil lights are basicly worthless for bearded dragons. I recommend you get a reptisun 10.0 t5ho uvb light and fixture,it is the closest thing to actual desert light you can get.
