I'm a newbie dragon owner. Lord Denathor and I are getting along great. I've had him about three weeks now. He eats from my hand, but yet still acts nervous sometimes. He has a lot of stress bands which worries me. I would love to show a picture but can't figure out how to upload more pics ( I uploaded pics of my set-up to a previous post). I love reading about everyone's experiences with their dragons and have learned a lot from this forum.
Glad we've been helpful! The stress markers will go in time as you discover his needs. It took me 2 months to find a cave my dragon liked and his stress lines finally went away As for the pictures, I use a site like photobucket or flickr and then copy and paste the link. Others upload directly to here by clicking on XIMG at the top of a post when you're writing it and you can upload there.
Haha what a cranky little guy! I like the antler, very unique. Are you using the towel as your current substrate, or what is the other substance, Excavator?
I had crushed walnut, but read that its bad for him so I took it out. I have the towel for now. Thinking of getting tile in the future. Any way I can calm his crankiness?
With mine, it took a lot of testing with various platforms. He had a cave in his tank on his cold side and various platforms or branches on his warm side. He always stayed on his cold side, on his cave. So eventually I moved his cave under his lamp and that solved everything. You have a lot of skinnier climbing objects, but not many flat, solid structures. I find they like wide platforms for basking because they can relax and pancake. It seems your baby would have to do quite a bit of scrambling and hanging on to the antlers. You can also try making the enclosure smaller. While my guy was little, I divided his tank in half with a cut piece of cardboard. It trapped heat in better and he perked up a lot after that too. Babies usually like warmer air temperatures, cool side being 80-85, and having the smaller section makes it easier to keep it warmer.
