Hi there. Real Newbie here. Haven't even got my Beardie yet
My wife is an animal-assisted therapist and i hope that the beardie will be able to join her team of therapy animals.
Am in the process of building my own enclosure. We live in Israel and it is really difficult to buy any specialist equipment or get any good advice. I visited someone locally who owns a beardie and their set-up was basically everything that I have read you are not meant to do
Thanks in advance for all the advice, and looking forward to sharing my beardie journey with you.
Welcome to the forum! If you have any questions about building your enclosure or caring for your dragon, please feel free to post and we'll do our best to help out. It's too bad you aren't able to get the best equipment in Israel. I've found that a lot of the best equipment comes from the UK. If you can get it shipped in, it's usually worthwhile (although you pay a premium for shipping cost). I don't know off hand if there are any good suppliers closer to you, unfortunately.
It's been a bumpy road, but we finally got our little fella home today. He's about 4 months old and is absolutely beautiful. Seems to be settling in okay, and after a couple of hours of hiding, he has found the basking spot and is enjoying the warm 105 degrees. Have left him some salad and we are looking forward to trying to hand feed him tomorrow. We have some mealworms and will get the Dubias in a day or two.
Am trying to stay calm but it's all very daunting :?
He looks nice and healthy and your setup looks great! Try not to worry too much, though I know how it feels to get started. You will soon learn a routine and get to know eachother pretty well. It won't be as daunting. If you have any questions though, feel free to ask us. I look forward to hearing about his adventures with you =)
