So I called the vet this morning. He said that while there isn't too much progress, he is starting to move his head more. They are continuing the syringe feeding, as well as the fluids and antibiotics.
I called later this afternoon, and the technician told me that he is getting stronger, but still needs to be syringe fed, and they were continuing the fluids and antibiotics. He's not completely out of the woods yet, but they believe he is coming around.
I'd like to thank you all for your thoughts and prayers for Hunter at this time...as well as the condolences for our Babygirl.
That is great news he is improving slowly. Any word on when he can come home?
I am sorry about your baby girl, losing one is so awful & devastating.
I hope he continues to get better & keep us posted on him.
Today is a good day!!!! I spoke with another vet at the same hospital, as the regular vet was at a different location today. He said that Hunter is taking baby steps on getting better, but that he is now moving around a lot more. The vet said that they are still syringe feeding him, etc, but (and this is the best part) tomorrow if we feel that we can syringe feed him, they will teach us how, we can bring him home!!!
I'm so hopeful, and grateful for everyone's thoughts and prayers for us & Hunter.
So I called for my morning update on Hunter. Dr says that he'd like to see him eating more frequently and with less help/syringe. He is concerned about his staying hydrated, so...I have to wait at least until this afternoon before I know if he's coming home tonight, or if I have to wait one more day. He did say that he's moving around more normally, he 'thrashes' when his foot is squeezed, and he had a period where his beard wasn't black. Though now that they have done what they needed. He is black again.
I can't wait for him to come home. My house is way WAY too quiet right now.
So Hunter is not yet home...We were given the option of keeping at the vet (where he's still getting his antibiotics via IV) until Tuesday, or bringing him home. As much as we miss him, we realize that it is better for him to stay and get his antibiotics via IV instead of orally, as they are more effective. We did stop and visit with him, and he looks SO much better Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers! We can't wait until Tuesday!
We picked him up about a hour ago, he's already moving around his tank...climbing to lay on his log, and moving back to his basking perch, albeit he's slow and walking nearly like he's a bit tipsy. I'm guessing that is from any anesthesia that was given to him with the antibiotics.
Copper just noticed him, started to head bob at Hunter...Hunter did his best to bob back...
I'm so happy that Hunter is home with you! You must be over the moon! Great that he is already returning head bobs. What an amazing recovery he has made.
