Up until recently I have had a 75 watt tight beam heat light for my dragons, Ive had it for some time so it ended up breaking or stopped working..whatever! Anyways I was curious as to what type of heat bulbs every1 else uses. :?: Ive read on here a few of you use a halogen or a regular light bulb (not soft white!). I was hoping some1 could be more specific as to what type exactly wattage, brand, halogen or bulb...etc. a picture would be great also. My 75watt tight beam worked perfectly for me before, and Iam having trouble getting it back to the right basking temp.s. I tried using a 40 watt halogen and it got my tank up to 125 !! Also is 100-110 a correct temp. for basking? THX for any input
I have always used a 40w bulb like this http://www.wickes.co.uk/Spot-Bulb-R39-SES-30W/invt/187065 Plus a CHE in the winter as it gets cold over here in England. I getting the feeling that everyone uses different wattage and type because there are so many different factors I.E Ambient temperature outside, Size of viv, substrate, distance of bulb from basking spot etc etc!
But yeh.... that's what I use. My basking spot is 103 but for babies 105-110 is recommended .... although... I think it varies between beardies. Gandhi never liked it that hot when he was a nipper so i've never had it hotter than 105 for him. He never used to bask if it was any hotter!
