I have a lamp dome that came from one of those "all-in-one" kits from Petco (don't worry, I don't use anything else from the kit). I have a Grreat Choice® Daytime Incandescent Health Bulb. For some reason, it is not heating the basking spot to the correct temperature! I have a brand new baby beardie, and I know the temp is supposed to be at about 105 degrees, but the bulb won't heat up past 88 degrees!! What do I need to change? My bulb, or lamp? Btw the lamp dome is a 60 watt lamp.
What sized tank is your baby in?
What type of thermometer are you using to measure the temps with? Where are you
placing the thermometer?
The daytime type of bulbs wont always heat up as much as other bulbs. Does it have a
bluish tint to it? You could try getting a bright white halogen flood/spot light instead.
He is in a 40 B tank. I'm using a digital thermometer with a probe to measure temps, and the probe is at the basking spot, on the cool side I have a regular reptile thermometer that is pretty accurate. Yes the bulb has a blue tint to it. I literally just read that the blue is no good, so today I am ordering a new lamp dome and bulb... I think what I am getting is good. (up to 150 watt lamp dome, and a 100 watt bright white bulb)
