So I built a crossfire type enclose 4x2x2 with slate tiles as the flooring and I am buying the lights and been getting different answers from many different people... What would be recommended for heating the enclosure? I live in Ohio and my house temp right now is 69 degrees.... I have done some reading and heard the Repta-sun is much better than the Repti-glow.... only thing is I have only been able to find the Repta-sun in 2.0 uvb... is that a problem or will it work? Also for the 4x2x2 enclosure will a 100w sunglow work or should I go with 150w? And also for night heat I heard that the Heat glow (red bulb from reptiglow people) isn't the best to use... Should I use a CHE or the Night-glow? Any suggestions and or information will definately help.....
I have pretty much the same enclosure so I'll tell you my heat/light set up. I have a Mega Ray mercury vapour bulb (100w self balasted). This provides the heat and UVB. I have a CHE for night heat - I live in Canada and don't turn the heat up too high in the winter (17 C (think that is 65ish??) is daytime high in here). I also have a tube fluorescent light for added brightness - it's 24" long and it was called daylight - it is only to make the tank brighter.
I don't believe the reptisun 2.0 will give off enough UVB, so don't bother with it. Try looking on petmountain.com or is it petsmountain.com, not sure, but they have the 10.0 tube. If you go that way you will also need a heat source and a regular house hold bulb will work - not sure on the watt but you may need to experiment with that.
