my heat lamp and uvb dont overlap which i know is recommended. the reason is because when they overlap the basking spot doesnt get hot enough. another reason is that my uvb is mounted inside but pulled as close to the top as it can so when they overlap my uvb fixture gets extremely hot. he spends time under both of them so i dont really think its a problem but i want to make sure its not necessary. another question is i know my uvb bulb needs to be replaced every 5-6 months but does the fixture ever need to be replaced? like will it start to affect the strength of the uvb or do i use the same one until it stops working? do my heat bulbs need to be replaced like the uvbs do or do i use them til they burn out.

Ok so your using a T 5 or a T 8 for UVB bulb? For a T 5 I recommend every 10-11 months- for a T 8 every 6 but I recommend every 5-- -never let your UVB bulbs burn out they may stay lit but the rays you cannot see the only way to tell about that is to invest in a solar meter those are expensive--- check your surface basking temps every month - basking bulbs get weak over time---- once you find they are not keeping surface basking temps to what they need to be change it out-- as far as UVB fixtures I have been using the same ones for years - one is as old as Hiccup around 5 or so -- I dont know if they ever need to be replaced unless they go haywire then of course you would need to get another one --
Uvb and heat don't HAVE to overlap it just makes it easier for you bearie to be comfortable while getting both. That being said your beardie should move into which ever light he needs as he needs it.
The uvb fixture should be good for years, generally if they fail the light will flicker or just not come on.
