Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and would like to ask if anyone can help me out a bit.

I have a 4x2x2 enclosure, mesh top with 2 small vents on the side. My beardie has been in this enclosure and set up was fine but as he has grown I wanted to move the basking and che fixtures to on top of the enclosure. I have moved these two fixtures and installed a 3d foam background so he can do some climbing but am having a problem controlling the hot/cool side temps along with the humidity.

I currently have a 75w halogen for basking (100w) on order arriving tomorrow. So at the moment I am having to combine basking lamp with che to get up to heat, basking spot 102°, warm side is 84°, cool side is 80° but I can't get the humidity below 42/48 before I changed the lights it was 37/38. I live in Florida so the humidity is a problem if I turn off the che the humidity rises.

I am hoping the new 100w bulb will solve this but I just wondered if anyone has any ideas, he has an evadry in the enclosure to help but I can't open more vents as the humidity in the house is higher.

I'm driving everyone mad in the house with the thermal gun constantly checking heat.

I just want to get everything right for him so I can leave him in peace.

For a 120 gallon tank usually a 150 watt bulb top of screen is used but your digital probe thermometer is going to tell you what wattage I would also get a 100 watt as well-- humidity should be taken w a digital probe hygrometer placed on back center wall optimal humidity is 40-50% nothing under 20 or over 70%

Hi, KarrieRee,

Thanks for the response, I should have mentioned that the basking spot is raised to enable him to get correct uvb amount so I am hoping 100w will work. It's so confusing trying to find out the correct way to care for these little characters I read up loads before we got him and was led to believe that the humidity had to be in the 30's, if 40 to 50 is optimal I only have to sort out the warm to cool gradient.

He's been giving me side eye all day. I don't think he realizes all the effort I go to lol along with the crickets and discoids I've got breeding in my spare room, too cold for them outside...

What are you using for a UVB?

It's a T5 10% I believe it's a reptisun. I did have an Arcadia 12% but it blew after a few months and wasn't readily available.
I would go back to the Arcadia--- bulb was a dud--- the 10% is not strong enough - you can get a 24 watt T5 that would also be an option - distance should be 12-15 inches directly over the basking decor in the tank - there are websites you can get the Arcadia off of if you need them

I will look into getting an Arcadia bulb to replace the one I have, He currently gets between 3.9 to 5.6 with a solar meter on his basking spot. When I sort out the heat I would like to lower the basking spot a bit so yes a higher rated uvb would be better.

Thank you for all your help.

Hey! I'm planning on ordering a 4x2x2 for my next beardie but I'm worried about lighting. I have a UVA and a UVB but they are small (the UVA just being a bulb and the UVB being 12 ish inches?) My house is drafty so I need a strong light that puts off quite a good amount of heat, any suggestions?
cookie event at my library today, quite fun! Made some bracelets for my comrades too, to give them at church in the morning. Got a busy day tomorrow even though I’m off work… i go back on tuesday so atleast I’ll have 2 days off to rewind….then back to hell lol
The head tilt tho! Aaaahhh
