The last thing I need for my roach bin is the heat. If you're using a heat cable or the flexwatt heat tape could you please post pics of your setup? On top of that my roommates are not so keen on roaches being in the house so I'll have to eventually find a way to have them in the garage. What are some ways I can keep them alive and thriving out there in this lovely Oregon winter?
I can't help with the heat cable vs flexwatt (though I just got a ball python and was considering building a rack so I could get more and the flexwatt seems pretty complicated); but for keeping the roaches in the garage I read either on here or at the ball python forums a while back that you can put a tote inside of a bigger tote and put insulation board along the outside of the inner tote and then put insulation board along the outside tote as well. sounds like a lot of work but its probably cheaper than building an insulated box. another thought that I had was buying a non working chest freezer (or cheap working on on CL) and put the heat source and tote inside the freezer. either way if you could PM me results of how you get it to work in the future I'd much appreciate it! I eventually plan on trying to move my breeders out to the garage as well but for now I've got too many other projects that need my attention.
hope I gave you a few ideas to get your wheels turning!
