My Richard is having a hard time with his current shed. He always has difficult sheds, but this time the top of his head just won't cooperate. He's really uncomfortable, and tries to scrape it on whatever he can, poor little man. My questions are:
Yesterday in his bath I was spraying warm water around him, and he got right under the flow so the water was running directly on the itchy part of his head. He closed his eyes and looked like he was in heaven. I moved the sprayer a little and he got right back under it. I'd love to do it again since he enjoyed it so much, but I'm afraid water will get in his ears and cause him problems - either disorientation or an infection. Thoughts?
Also, ZooMed Repti Shedding Aid usually works pretty well on him, but I don't want to spray it directly on his big fat head or around his face if there's any chance it might damage his eyes or cause problems if he licked it. Does anyone have info on the ingredients and if they're safe around his face?
You could use olive oil, cocoa butter, or pure aloe on his face (I know at least the olive oil is edible for beardies ).
Make sure not to let him bask for long with the cocoa butter or aloe or oil on his face though, apparently they can get really hot and cause burns. I just put aloe on my big guy right before bed
