So my beardie didn't always love water, but these days she just loves it. She's taken to playing around in it and dunking her head in the water. The water is never higher than her elbows. Today, she dunked her head for a while, what seemed too long, so I pulled her up and she seemed a little confused. I was worried she would drown in there. Is that something I should worry about? Does she know she can't breathe underwater?
The biggest risk is drowning and a common risk is respiratory infections. Does she show any signs of struggling to breathe or coughing?
If not, she's probably okay, but I'd keep an eye on her and make sure she doesn't do that. It's possible she doesn't know she can't breathe underwater and ends up breathing some in, so preventing her from doing that will teach her that it's not something she should be doing.
