Has anyone ever had a beardie respond to you head bobbing? She was in her cage looking at me doing a slow head bob looking at me. So i decided what the heck ill do it back to her and see what she does. So we kept doing that back and forth a few times and then I added a arm wave into it and she stopped and just looked at me. Then I started to bob my head again and she did to. Then I bobbed it a little faster and she took off running in her cage. Thought it was pretty funny my other beardies usually just look at me like im crazy when I've done it to them lol.
Shes only 6 weeks old and doesn't like to be picked up. Will open her mouth and try to not let you near her. I've only had her for about 4-5 days. If you take her out of the cage on her log and pick her up shes fine just doesn't like to be picked up from cage. Its a glass front cage and not because I'm trying to come in from above her to pick her up.
I've had iguanas do that before. At that age, they're kinda learning how to "talk" so it's common to see their gestures more often.
With the other issue, you can try putting a worn shirt in there for her to sleep on. It will help her get used to your scent. They are also less likely to give you trouble if you handle them right before lights out. You can take them out, then wrap them in the shirt and let them fall asleep on you while you pet her head. Hand feed treats on occasion is also good. Have patience and be consistent. Trust is based in part on predictability. And keep in mind that it's a baby, and it will have the attention span and natural curiosity of other babies. So don't be surprised if they won't sit still for too long. Just like training a puppy of the same age, you'll have better luck with short frequent sessions.
Ya today she has settled down alot. She did that to me after I put her back in one of the times today. She is calming down nicely. Shes actually pretty calm when shes out of the cage its just the getting her out part. When I just had her out about 45 minutes ago she let me pick her up with my hand out of the cage. She's way to scared now to eat out of my hand. I'm going to try the shirt thing though.
Took your advice. She let me take her out of her cage with no problem when I tried it. The timer on her lights was about to go out so I turned them off. Then grabbed a shirt put it in my lap and sat back watched a movie with her on my hand she fell right asleep. kept moving around trying to get comforitable but that was about it until I wanted to take some pictures then she woke up. Then I wrapped her in a shirt and put her in her cage.
lol the pet on the head thing she isn't having it. Its kinda funny to do to her though. If you touch the top of her head she will kick at you with her back feet. Idk if its like a dog where if you pet them in the right spot there leg will just start to move or what its kind of funny.
Last is a picture with a different camera as mine sucks as you can see. Thanks for help shes calming down now. Was just more curious about the head bobbing thing never had one do it to me before. Hope we don't have to have a show down and start running in circles like the dragons do when they are pissed at each other.
