I bought a bearded dragon off kijiji 3 days ago. The dragon is really fat. The guy I bought it from said it was his girlfriends dragon and all she fed it was superworms. I have been trying to get him to eat greens and squash but he doesn't seem to be eating much. today I fed him 2 superworms and he gobbled them right up but wont touch his greens. Do you think I should hold off on the supers and only offer greens/squash? or should I give him a few worms each day? if so how many should he be eating? tomorrow im gonna go get some crickets and see if he will eat those if he does how many should I be giving him a day? By the way the guy I bought the dragon from said the dragon is 1 yr old.
At a year old he should be starting to switch to mainly veggies with only about 20% bugs. I would try to wean him off of the supers and use them as a treat. Once they get hooked on those it can be difficult to get them to switch to something else so it may take quite a bit of time and patience. Do offer a nice fresh salad every day so he gets used to that as an available food source.
