Happy 4th! Why Ruby Why?

Happy 4th all!
I tried to feed Ruby. He tried to help me and ate a piece of the carton that the dubias climb on. The more I said no and tried to get it, he chewed more. It's gone. He ate dubias afterwards and I've been observing him for the last 30 minutes. I have charcoal on hand but there's no black beard or anything.
Last night we rode scooters together and I kept it short when I saw lightning bugs, who knew danger was literally in my hands.

Side note, he bit the crap out of my finger when I fed him a blueberry last week. It wasn't on purpose, totally my fault but two questions:
Why do the bite and gnaw so hard?
When will I learn?

What a dork! lol.

1. What I have learned is the more you are around reptiles, it’s not if, but when, you get bit. It’s going to happen. I don’t believe you were bit out of anger or aggression. Probably just a food response. Is this the first time it’s happened?

2. Nothing you need to really “learn” except they are animals. It’s going to happen. :)

That's just what I'd call a healthy food response :)

But yeah just something to be aware of, they can be very nice and docile but also switch in an instance. They are cute but will always remain predators ;)

And: They don't have good vision right in front of their snout, especially when putting something too close.
(For this, I prefer hand-feeding from a stretched-out palm instead of me pinching something between two fingers. Especially for veggies which my dragon always grabs with the mouth and not with the tongue like he does for insects. Never was bitten, neither in defense nor accidentally, though.)

This! Yes, they are cute and playful, but ALWAYS remember, they are reptiles. They are predators. They've been around since the dinosaurs! They have certain things hardwired into them. You must respect that when dealing with reptiles.

Most bites I ever got, they let go as soon as they realized that they bite me. .... I say most. Zsa Zsa bite me the other day and tried to shake the tip of my finger loose so she could eat it also lol. I've never had a beardie with a food response like she has.
When I feed my guys blueberries I let them set st the tip of two fingers and tilt my had just a little, I've never been bitten like that.

Definitely a food response. I'm not used to them nipping so I forget. These aren't animals but my babies. Lol I forget.

I think you will learn quickly. It all depends on your experience. The more you feed blueberries, the better your reaction will be. :D
Definitely. Ruby's favorite food but I give it sparingly. He either looks dirty when it's done or as if he has blood oozing. Those berries don't stand a chance.

Smart with the fingers. I put in my palm they just look. I try to have my fingers pushed slightly back but when those berries roll...forget it.

Ruby wasn't too regretful, he hates me but Rocky puts himself in timeout. We hug it out and it's all good.

I can feel her staring into my soul demanding food
She was having a staring contest with a mealworm. I guess I never taught her to not play with her food, lol.
