I feed my bearded dragon Locust and when i first bought them i asked the store 'do i need to gut load them' she replied 'no just keep them in this box and feed your dragon 9 insects twice a day' i thought this was odd as i have read that insects you feed your beardie should be gut loaded i also thought that for his age (7months) 18 a day wasnt enough. Should i gut load the locust ? Am i feeding him enough insects? :? (I do also give him vegetables)
It's always reccomended to gutload your feeders. Feed them the same type of stuff that you would feed your dragon. You can also feed them conmercially prepared food.
I would reccomend that you feed him more. 18 a day isn't enough for a growing beardie, and at 7 month he is still needing a high % of protein in his diet.
I'd suggest you feed him two meals a day, but give him as many as he can eat within 10 minutes or so. If you find that he's eating alot and begins to put on too much weight, then you can reduce the amount of feeders accordingly.
