What type of grout do you guys use to make the faux rocks? Also do you cover the styrofoam with anything before beginning to grout it? Lastly, what consistency do you make the grout to spread it on easily? I am working on making my first rock wall and am unsure on these things.
hey, im working on my first one too and finished the grout today... i used a basic non-sanded grout that came in what looked like milk cartons, mixed it with enough water to make a thin coat, then added a thicker coat on top of that. i would say to cover the whole thing in grout.
i dont know if there is anything good to put on it first or not, but i tried spray primer on some spots i missed with the grout & it ate away at the styrofoam. so, stay away from that.
can you use glue instead of grout to harden the structure....like probond by elmers. or can you use that before you use the grout. the nearest home improvement store is approx 40 miles from me and gas is expensive, so i was wondering if i could use something found in walmart instead of grout, or am i better off to just suck it up and make the drive. i won't be even thinking about grouting til tomorrow, as i am still building the structure and getting ready to go get spray foam.
