So I threw a few big handfuls of collard greens into a food processor. Then I did about 15 green beans and about a third of a sweet potato and mixed it all together. It's all finely chopped and he loves it. I've heard conflicting things about sweet potatoes though. Is it okay to be in his daily mix? Collard greens take up most of the mix, and the green beans and sweets are just added so it's not a boring meal.
I use all the approved veggies and greens as a base and add about 1/3 of others in every other weeks just to vary the diet. they need varied diet. IF you eat the same thing over and over, you will get malnutrition. that's why it is also important to supplement the salad like it said in the guideline. (I guess you can look that up yourself.) I use winter squash more as the orange color veggies part because it doesn't have as much calcium oxalate as carrots and sweet potatoes, and it has a lot of fiber which is necessary for normal bowel movement. Whereas carrots and sweet potatoes just turn directly into sugar. You use these every now and then, but I recommend you use winter squash more. for protein green beans and other bean in their edible pods have a lot of it.... So does parsnips and asparagus. Asparagus tend to high on oxalate, so use occasionally to vary his diet.
