We have a neighbor that got a new dragon and had some questions for us. The one I was unsure of was that they are feeding crickets and grasshoppers. I didn’t think they could be given grasshoppers, but I can’t recall where I read that or the reason why not to feed those can anyone help?
I don't think the issue is grasshoppers, per se, it's if the grasshoppers are wild caught. If they're ordering them from an online bug farmer, they should be fine (as long as they're size appropriate for the dragon) - but wild caught grasshoppers can be crawling with parasites and may be exposed to pesticides. Neither of these are good for dragons, of course.
If they're asking your advice, you can try to steer them towards dubia roaches as a feeder, which are far superior to crickets. They don't die as quickly, have no odor, make no noise, and can't infest your house if they get loose.
