My dragons' indoor encloser is almost ready! She is currently living at my work, which had been working. However, since the building she is currently is greatly affected by the outside weather. I think she is over heating, i've noticed her in her waterbowl the last week or 2. I've taken to bringing her with me to lunch, where there is ac and she can cool off and then putting her back during 3rd feeding. When the themperature starts to cool off. However, yesterdays heat index was 109. So i think i need to finish her truly indoor tank quickly.
There are only 2 thinks left that i need. A heat lamp, which you guys have been repeatedly suggested a CHE light. So I will be raiding every petstore looking for that. However, i don't know what tank thermometer would be good her for tank? What would you guys suggest?
They are very reliable and durable and their batteries last for years. They are so cheap I bought a bunch of them in bulk and have 3 in each of my vivs and rearing tubs , and even some around the house.
100w CHE is sufficient for most situations. They burn quite hot though so be sure to keep it away from fingers, anything flammable or anything that will easily melt. Since they get so hot I've switched over to heat projectors which run a bit cooler but still produce plenty of heat underneath the bulb. http://www.reptileuv.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=196
I use one over my roach bin and that's just on all the time. The one over the "cool side" of my tank is hooked to the herpstat and set to pulse and only comes on overnight if the temps drop below 70.
I think i may try that only light Coopetdragon recommened as well. Not like i already have a good heat lamp. So, i figure worst case scenario. I don't like it and buy a CHE no harm no fowl.
