Im looking for a good night time heat emitter for my beardie. Its getting a bit too cold at night and i want to make sure that Ash is warm enough. Ive seen some ceramic heat emitters ans some black light heat bulbs and read some mixed reviews so was wondering whats best. I have a 40 gallon set up. Ill post a pic. Ive taken the box at the bottom off lol pic was iust taken at first set up. What wattage and kind of bulb would be good for night time? Thanks

Is your tank still sitting on the floor? Or have you moved it to a stand / dresser? I use a dome w/ a ceramic socket and a Zoo Med 100 watt bulb and I do not think color is a issue- my bulbs have lasted for a long time - I believe those go by hrs used - its placed on the top of the screen middle of tank and it keeps my tanks around 70 or so at night and that is w/ zero below temps - the wattage is going to depend on your room if its a warm room cold room if its on the floor - floors are cold and drafty - w/ us going into spring now I will probably stop running it at night- you dont want temps in the tank overnight 75 or warmer - so all summer long mine are not used - the only thing I have had to replace is the dome and has been years since I got it in fact I just replaced it this winter

Its on the floor and its been getting down innthe 30s at night time. Been getting around 64 inside my house. I have them coming to look at my heater tomorrow actually, but I want to get something for the cold nights that I can turn on. I probably wont need it in the Summer, im in Texas and it gets plenty hot in the summer here lol. Ive read that if you use heat at night you dont want light cuz it can throw off their sleep, so a ceramic heat emitter was recommened.

Yes that is what I use- please get your tank off the floor you can get a dresser from a second hand store w/ drawers they are nice to have you can use the drawers for the stuff for your dragon - I paid $40 for a dresser for blaze- use the tank measurements to go by - besides being drafty dragons like to be up so they can see what's going on - your tank will go to the temp in the house if it's off the floor I am thinking it's going to be colder on the floor
