As some of you may know, I've had Kuma 3 days now
Tonight he seemed to have turned in by himself while i still had the daylights on. it was at around 8:15pm
The last two nights he turned in shortly after i turned off his daylights. I was kind of curious as to why he turned in on his own tonight. One of the reasons, I speculate is that i kind of did wake up him this morning at around 11am the day prior, the same. when i mean by waking him is turning the daylights on he just eventually opened his eyes and eventually moved out from his slumber spot.
Now, I'm curious. Do these guys actually get tired from their daily activities or they only recognize sleep by the lights going off? Same with waking up.
I was just a bit surprised at his turning in on his own this evening with the lights still on. :?
I think they get tired. My beardie seems to at least. His lights go off at 9:30pm, and if I leave him in his tank, he'll be awake until the lights go off, but if I take him out around like 9:20, he will fall asleep on me. Although that's probably because Ollie doesn't sleep in his tank every night, some nights I let him sleep in my bed with me so he's probably used to sleeping outside of his tank more
You allow your beardie to sleep outside his tank in your bed? You're not afraid you might crush or hurt him? Or if he awakens and runs off somewhere? That's very cool though!
I don't move around much when I sleep, but nevertheless, there is a corner on my bed which I know I never sleep on, so he sleeps there Also I put him in my thick winter hat or wrapped in his blankie to sleep, so it's nice and dark and he isn't woken up so easily to run off. But I don't worry, because he's never up and awake unless I wake him, and even if he does get up and run off, there would be no where to go, my room is small and my door is closed at night
There has been one time where he got up before I did, and he almost gave me a heart attack, until I realize the farthest he went was on the floor beside my bed and luckily my bed is really low to the ground haha
I know I have read of others on here who sleep with their beardies aswell
Hahaha I'm sure Ollie is very grateful, considering if I take him out after lights out, he'll be sleeping in the same spot he was basking... which I find pitiful, and makes me take him out and bring him to the bed, so maybe he does it on purpose LOL
Has there been any books written on the indepth psychology of Bearded Dragons? Maybe no one has looked that closely at them but it would be cool to read and try to understand more or less what and how they translate things. Especially B.Ds in captivity.
I have no idea... but I have to admit that would be a very interesting read! I guess in the mean time all we can do is observe our own and come up with our best interpretation
My dragon will turn in with the lights still on
or if he is out of his tank around that time, he starts looking for a place to sleep
ideally my chest
i think he knows when he want to go to bed, since it is usually about a half hour before his lights go off
as far as waking up, hes never up before the lights, probably because of the temp
Yea today, Kuma began turning in with the lights still on, i was kinda surprised but i thought it was cool. I finally got a timer now for my lights so he'll have a prestine schedule he can adjust too and not be such a sporatically sleeping nut cuse because of his foolish owner.
