I have a one year old male bearded dragon, and he stopped eating and is going bonkers. He is running around, usually very lazy, when he is on his cage he scratched and glass surfs. We got him a vet appointment for Thursday but I was wondering if we should schedule a sooner one. He also took a very tiny poop that looked good, not tinstinky, good color and good shape and a nice urate. He normally takes a really big poo once or twice (if I'm lucky) a week. He isn't acting stressed and is the complete opposite if lethargic. He was also eye popping and scratching a week ago so I though it was shed time but there have been no other indications. All of his temps are good, reotisun 10.0 150w heating bulb and his temps stay withing 95-100 on basking and 75-80 ok cool side. He is getting a new tallnk within the month with bigger uvb, and we are sitting in the sunshine right now. He is very alert and wants to lick everything, and since he hasn't been eating I blended up some greens and a couple other veggies with water and he will lick it off his nose so that he gets some nutrients. I'm a little worried. Quite worried actually.
My eyes are really getting bad + I have to zoom in for everything now but that does look like a male. Some things look like shadows but I believe there are 2 hemipene bulges.
Sometimes they are just young + hormonal which can cause that type of activity. Dragons can be very calm or very frenetic + jumpy.
Is it just me (could very well be) but I only see one bulge there, not two, and it doesn't look like a himipene necessarily...
Either way, at a year old, whether a male or female, he could be going through the "hormonal rages" of puberty.
So he's eating normally, not at all lethargic, and basically in no way is acting abnormally except he's got a bunch of energy and is running around and glass surfing? Sounds like puberty to me, especially at a year old.
