Hi all,
I rescued gizmo very recently from his second (and very clueless) owner.
The guy had put two dragons together, a male and a female, but they weren't too happy about it and fought. One such fight resulted in gizmos eye getting scratched.
Over the past few days the swelling has reduced and you can see the eye ball again, but it is still fairly 'puss-y'. By that I mean the puss is clear and varies in amount over the course of the day.
I've been very cautiously cleaning it for him with some warmish water and cotton swabs (to say the least he is not a fan of that process).
He does seem to use the eye a bit after I've cleaned it but it's obvious he relies on the other much more heavily.
I am planning to take him to the vet soon anyway, but he's fairly tense at the moment as he was been moved so much in a short space of time (2 weeks, 4 locations) so don't want to stress him out too much while he gets used to his new home.
Any suggestions on how to make him more comfortable while helping him heal?
I haven't personally been in this predicament but I have heard others respond saying to clear an eye infection you can use organic raw honey (not supermarket honey), watered down a little on his eyes.
I agree with the raw honey suggestion. I used it on a hatchling that had it's eye scratched by a clutchmate during hatching , the eye was swollen + had pus but it healed within days of using the raw honey diluted with a bit if warm water. I used a Q-tip + applied 2-3 X a day.
