I have a quick question. My little on (about 12 months old now) has a real hard time passing his poop. His urate is generally nice and soft, and the size is normal. Additionally, he will only poop in the bath after a extended period of time (sort of like impaction) and generally hear a 'crack' or two when passing. This is concerning because obviously I don't want him to be straining this hard, but I don't know what I can do.
He has been fairly badly impacted once, so do you think he may have done some permanent damage to his digestive system? I intend on taking him to the vet with my next pay check to get a proper inspection done.
Thanks for any help
Payne
P.S. Have a look at my previous post to see the common questions.
I understand your concern. Is there still an extended period between poops if you bathe him daily? My girl always has a few bubbles that make a noise when she goes in her tank. Perhaps underwater it would sound like a crack? I don't know if damage could have occurred from the previous impaction. Hopefully someone else will have an opinion.
Generally if I bathe him, he will poop. Too me it sounds awfully like a crack from straining, but once he passes it is fine. I make an effort to bathe him every 2-3 days just to make sure he passes something, because he rarely goes in his enclosure.
I have one who will only poop in the bath. He gets a bath every day. He doesn't poop every time, but at least he has the chance. Perhaps if you bathe your little guy every day, his need to strain will be reduced.
