When I throw in a cricket, he sometimes goes for it. He only ate about 4, ill be going out to buy more later. Could he possibly have gone on this hunger strike because he doesn't want to eat outside his cage?
(When I first fed him Phoenix worms I just tossed them inside his cage.)
Some dragons don't feel comfortable eating out of their tanks, sure.
Have you tried putting a large plastic bin/tub in the tank & placing a few crickets in to see if he will eat them that way so they don't get loose in the tank?
He ate 1 phoenix worm (Only one I could find :/) and 5 or 6 crickets, in his cage. This is rather annoying because I have to make sure none hide and its very time consuming. Is there any way I can get him used to eating out in a separate area? Thats what he's been doing so I don't see why he has to start doing this now.
(Btw, I gave him a bath 2 days ago and misted him today, how often do you think I should mist? I plan to bathe him every Saterday, but I can never find a straight up answer for how often you mist him, is it just preference? How often do you mist your beardies?
I would not recommend misting in the tank, it can raise humidity levels too much & encourage mold growth. You can mist daily once they are outside of their tanks.
Have you tried feeding him just out on the floor instead, they tend to like that, to hunt an insect.
You could get a rug or a large towel to feed him on, he might really like that!
Let me know how that works for him.
If you look on the top left hand side of the page, where it says User Control Panel, click on that. Then it will take you to your personal page where you can modify your settings. You will see Profile & then 4 choices for that, including a signature & an avatar.
It is pretty easy to do.
OH, that's quite alright, at least he ate for you though, that is great news!
When you get a chance, just try that method to see if he enjoys it. I hope he had a good day, too.
Resend the PM on the silkworms, it must not have gone through.
Poor guy, he just didn't really know what to do, he is still small. Once he is older & bigger, he might go for feeding that way.
How is he doing today?
