I've got a 6 month old beardie I've had for 2 weeks now. And thankfully over the past few days he's gained his appetite back for live food. (Until then he just ate greens and never touched his live food). Now he seems to love his giant mealworms but not greens.
Anyway I'd like to be able to hand feed him but the main obstacle is he wont even eat out his bowl if he can see me. Preferring to focus on what I'm doing and not the food. And he's not very enthusiastic about the food, I have to pick him up and put him in front of the bowl.
How would I get him like this. http://youtu.be/X_B2JUAXKEI Super excited for food and taking it from a hand.
My 3 month old little girl won't eat out of a dish either. She chases dubias or eats them and phoenix worms off my hand. As for greens, she eats them as well if I feed them to her or I let her sit on me, then she eats her greens like crazy. At first she wouldn't eat when I watched either. I just let her watch me while I cleaned her cage and did stuff around her and then slowly started offering her food from my hand with my hand lower level than her so it didn't seem like I was trying to catch her. Can try that. Also Harley is not really excited about anything except dubias but again I keep her pretty much fed throughout the day unless im out doing errands or work. First thing you gotta do is earn his trust.
