Hi guys ! Dr.Wilson is licking the sand in his enclosure, I am aware of impaction risks, even if the temps are ok in his viv. My bf cut leftover smooth ceramic tile and I wonder if I could just flip them and use them for flooring to have more texture ? I read a bit and think it should be ok ... anyone ever did thid ?

I plan on going bioactive / mix of soil/sand when he will be about a year old.

Thanks in advance !

I think most tile is pretty uneven on the back, but I don't see why it wouldn't technically work 🤔

Ya know, I haven't tried it because it's harder to clean, but having a few flipped might help with nails. Alex gets tons of climbing stuff so it's not really a problem for her. But a bit more grip etc... might be nice on one side. Leave the smooth side up on her tub side where she usually does her business.

So uhhhhh if the question is "is ceramic tile safe" yes. Obviously clean it well to remove dust etc... and have the tile boy make them fit nice ;)

I wouldn't use tiles like that.
The back of ceramic tiles is a good abrasive (similar to sharpening stones for carpentry tools).
If your dragon likes to dig, it can wear down its claws pretty quickly, especially if it digs in a cave and you won't see it.
I remember an old story from my local forum. The owner had installed a beautiful cave as a shelter, stylized as a Greek amphora lying on its side, with a hole (entrance) on the side. This amphora was made of clay and its bottom was also clay. His dragon went into it and dug for a while. As a result, the dragon wore down its claws to the base and bleeding. :( These were very unpleasant photos, so I will remember this incident for a long time.

Hey! I'm planning on ordering a 4x2x2 for my next beardie but I'm worried about lighting. I have a UVA and a UVB but they are small (the UVA just being a bulb and the UVB being 12 ish inches?) My house is drafty so I need a strong light that puts off quite a good amount of heat, any suggestions?
