So my sister surprised with a little beardie and was really generous in getting me everything I need to start out. I noticed later on in the evening that there was a little brown bug crawling pretty quickly around his terrarium. I was nervous, not knowing what it was and being a complete noob at this so I went ahead and got rid of it then left. Well, I come back and there's a couple more, one on top of the habitat and two more on my wall. When I went to snag the last one, it had either flown or jumped or crawled REALLY fast up the wall because I had blinked and couldn't figure out where he went.
I am super paranoid because I keep reading about mites and all sorts of different things and I don't know what they could be! Here is a picture:
Hi there, can you post a pic of your set up ? And do you have crickets in your room that you're feeding him ? If so, those might be dermestid beetles that come with some shipments of crickets....they can be found in the larva stage [ look like a tiny fuzzy caterpillar ] or when they morph in to a beetle and can fly. . Here are pictures [ scroll to the beetle ] of one, but they can vary in color.
The good news is those aren't mites, so it's nothing that could infect your beardie. Mites are tiny, like the head of a pin and are usually black or red.
