First Shed

Hi it’s my beardies first shed in my care :) I noticed a few days ago that he has a swollen back leg. My beardie is already disabled (motor function difficulties present from birth) and I was waiting for the shed to come off before worrying too much about it but he still hasn’t full shed. I looked at a few threads and the possibilities seem to be either gout or just pressure from shed skin. Pictures are attached I would love some advice before finding a vet I don’t have the money to pay unnecessary visit bills. He moves on it normally and it doesnt seem to cause him pain. He seems to have normal appetite loss for a shedding animal.

Forgot to attach pictures here they are, I just gave him a warm bath. I haven’t been able to bend his leg properly with his daily physical therapy (advised to assist with his disability) for a few days.

Hi there, that's an unusual name , I will call him Sir Ap but pronounce it Syrup.
The leg looks O.K, they can sometimes seem just a bit bigger as the scales are coming away.

Haha that’s his shortened name! His full name is Sir Petrodragonic Apocalypse or Dawn of Eternal night an annihilation of planet earth and the beginning of merciless damnation! My favorite album by Australian psyche rock band king gizzard and the lizard wizard!

In reference to his leg that’s what I’ve been thinking based on other forum posts, the two leading answers seemed to be either shed or gout and I wanted to wait for his shed to pass before assuming gout… I wanted some more eyes on it to be safe though. Appreciate it :)

It's easy to get a bit nervous for a first time owner . But yes, Syr Ap is good and no vet is needed right now. :)🦵

Hello,

I was trying to look at his hands/wrist to see if there was any swelling present.
Can you tell if there is any other swelling on his hands, feet, etc?
Let his leg shed to see what his leg looks life afterwards. Hopefully there is no
gout developing! He is definitely a little cutie!

It doesn’t seem like it? Except maybe one of his front arms it seems slightly bigger but not as big as his back leg. His shed seems uneven.

If Syr Ap isn't in pain and walking normally it's unlikely that he has gout. Uneven sheds are 100 % normal.
Notice how the left back leg and the right front leg on my dragon both look just a bit thicker than the other legs that already shed ?

Hey! I'm planning on ordering a 4x2x2 for my next beardie but I'm worried about lighting. I have a UVA and a UVB but they are small (the UVA just being a bulb and the UVB being 12 ish inches?) My house is drafty so I need a strong light that puts off quite a good amount of heat, any suggestions?
cookie event at my library today, quite fun! Made some bracelets for my comrades too, to give them at church in the morning. Got a busy day tomorrow even though I’m off work… i go back on tuesday so atleast I’ll have 2 days off to rewind….then back to hell lol
The head tilt tho! Aaaahhh
