Forgive me, all I can work with is Tinypic cause my computer is terribly old and decrepit haha
Not the best pics but you get the general idea of it. Any ideas on how I can better this for my little Odin? He seems to like it but still does a lot of glass dancing. I think this is because his last enclosure was high up on the mantle TV cutout, but this one is on the floor (ordered a table but its not here yet )
Tell me what ya think!
That looks very nice! How high up are the basking bulbs? You may want to move the basking site over to that side of the tank if you have enough overhead space. That way the lights will be shining straight down rather than at an angle.
All the bulbs are 6-8 inches away from his basking spot, even the ones at an angle. The UVA/UVB strip fixtures are directly above his basking spot, while the heat floods are off to the side, at an angle. It took us several tries to get this right, and even with very low wattage bulbs, with the heat lights directly above the basking spot, it would get to 115 degrees or higher. Which is ok for some juveniles, but he does not seem to like it AT ALL. So we moved them over and this promoted perfect conditions, that he really enjoys. Any suggestions on replacing the heat lamp directly above him without it getting too hot? Because even with the lowest of wattages, it still got too hot. But if you do have any ideas, I could still move it over about 2-4 inches closer to the UVA/UVB strip fixture.
Thanks for any ideas
Maybe just try one bulb for heat and leave the other open as a place for a CHE bulb if needed. And if you are still having issues with the heat, rig up a computer fan into one of the vents to try and cool it down a bit.
