I understand when people say that bearded dragons own us not the other way around.
My beardie Kuro is absolutely spoiled and he spends most of the day either basking, running around my bed or on my computer or hes just sitting on me, looking at me as if to say you know what i want, go get me it! He decided he wanted a bath and took himself to the sink ,
Their personalities are amazing! When I adopted my current beardie, Rocky, I wasn't sure what to expect since I didn't have any background on him. He very quickly let us know that he was "large and in charge!" These guys are so much fun. People think I'm crazy for loving a lizard like I do, but I can't imagine my life without one.
I regularly get my order to take my girl Shayvele out of her enclosure (usually when I'm rushing through breakfast) so that I can run her bath and poo in it. After some years of this it almost seems normal to take orders from a small lizard.
On the other hand, I've got Radio National on right now and David Icke is going on about how the world is ruled by humanoid, shape-shifting extraterrestrial lizards. Maybe beardies are their ambassadors, softening us up for the coming of the lizard ruling class!
I don't have my beardie yet, but I'm looking forward to becoming a dragon slave. I have a guinea pig who has already trained me perfectly: every time I enter the kitchen, she gets out of her cage, goes to the fridge and then looks at me and whistles, asking me why I'm not feeding her yet. I just can't resist her!
My mum and I always joke that if aliens ever get to earth, all they have to do is look cute and we'll obey their every command!
I don't know what it is about beardies... my dad thoughtlessly surprised our 7 year old with one and at first I was like... NO, we do not want this nuisance, his very presence is an inconvenience, we have no reptile experience and we will not be keeping him... then I peered into his tank, laid eyes on him and melted.
Immediately I researched everything he could possibly want or need, and procured it. I couldn't help it! It's been about six weeks since we got him, and I am just head over heels for this little guy. His roaches are delivered weekly, his larger custom viv is nearing completion in the garage, and I've been to the local reptile supply store about 20 times. He gets bathed and exfoliated with a soft facial spin brush every day because he loves it.
I wish he could talk so that he could tell me anything else his little heart desires and I could fulfill it.
I don't care if I'm his slave, he is my precious boy and I'm his mama now, haha.
They do have a way of making us fall in love with them without even trying, don't they? :love5:
And that's the second time I've seen someone say they have a beardie who likes those facial spin brushes. It's hard to believe this little guy is not afraid of it, since it's bigger than he is.
