This might be a stupid question. But I have seen a few people claim and say this before, that there dragon has gotten preg and layed eggs without mating with a Male dragon. That the females just produced eggs on its own....
Is that true? Can a female produce eggs without ever even seeing another dragon?
1 of the people said that his dragon never left his room in 2years. That he had her since she was 6weeks old. & he never had any other reptiles in his life. That his dragon would just eat & bask & take the occasional baths. & then one day, he came in to clean out her tank and under her basking cave was 7eggs...
Is he missing something or lying? Or can this happen? I thought you have to put a female & male together, you know, the "Birds & the Bees".
Female Beardies will lay eggs whether they have mated or not. Unmated females will lay infertile eggs, and mated females will usually lay fertile ones. Birds are the same way. Egg laying is mediated by their hormones. Infertile eggs in a Beardie are usually not uniform; they're somewhat dented. Egg laying is natural as long as the Beardie does not become lethargic, which is usually an indication of being egg-bound (which can only be fixed surgically).
Damnit......Well I have 1female, well she is actually my Ex but she lives with me at the moment and Ill always look at her as my first. Other then that I think I have two males. Thats going make us very mad if she lays eggs esp because shes sooo tiny im sure she will get bound.
