Hi!
As some of you know, I live in the tiny island of Malta in Europe at the moment, and as there is no reptile vet existing here, I have a simple question:
Is there anywhere I can send a fecal test OR do a fecal test myself (without buying a freakin' microscope etc etc) thanks for ur time!
without buying a microscope there's not way to do a fecal yourself. I'm not sure about sending them off. You'd have to look for places close to you, as the sample needs to be fairly fresh.
Thanks.
so in that case, I can really just forget a fecal I presume.
I have spent, approx. 1000 EUR (Yes it is true) on my little lizard so far, and a whole fecal setup with shipping and all would for sure be another 200...
nah.
I wouldn't just forget getting a fecal done. It's the only way you can find out if they have parasites or worms which they can get from time to time despite our best treatment.
Malta is beautiful- i visited once when i was staying on the island of Gozo- some gorgeous buildings. Anyway, back to the subject: i know in the UK you can send off a fecal test

Yes! Malta is absolutely awesome... I have lived in 5 countries, including Thailand, and Malta is close to as amazing as Thailand is...
OnT:
For all of the above tests, we require a 3 day pooled faeces sample as this increases our chances
of finding any parasites, which can be intermittently shed. A pooled sample is faeces collected
over a 3 day period and placed in to the same sterile container.
Says on the info...
Does this not mean 3 days old sample could be ok? I would just ship it with air mail on a monday and perhaps it should be ok then. Questions is just about coldness now, that might mean big trouble. Haha, maybe keep the poo warm with heat packs... Ahhh if this little island just had a vet!

lol. It could work and yeah i think 3 days would be ok from what they state- im sure if you email them they'll be able to tell you the best way to ship it (if they accept flying poo  )
