Eye closed and slightly matte

My bearded dragon was shedding around his eyes recently and his left eye has been closed for a while.
There's no visible shed on the exterior anymore but he hasn't opened his left eye since.
He does open it every now and then when moving, and I've noticed the clear layer of his eyeball is slightly matte.
No inflammation and no discharge.
Is it possible his eye has gone slightly matte due to being closed for a while, and if so what treatment can I self administer while I search for a vet?
