Expiring Edit and Delete buttons?

I just discovered that the edit and delete buttons for posts disappear after a certain amount of time and I'm confused as to why. I discovered a date error on my memorial post for Ardie and can't fix it now, but I know for a fact I was able to edit the day I posted. A new post I made in the same thread shows the edit and delete options, but literally every other post I made has them disabled.

Could you please remove any time limit for that? I think it should be each user's own choice on if they want to edit or remove their own posts. Thank you!

If you contact the mods, they can probably help you with it 🙂

The limit is a common thing on forums and largely because editing is intended for people to fix errors, or maybe short edit additions. But the ability to remove posts entirely or change the content after a while can create confusion, misrepresentation, etc. And this has happened in the past with older forum software we had in place and did allow it.

I'm open to increasing the time period. I don't recall what it is set to (probably defaults for the software we use). What do you think would be helpful to support the use case you have in mind? What sort of edits?

Hey, I just saw one of your posts from a few months ago, I’m sorry for your loss of Sweet Pea and Zen, I know that’s really rough, and I’ll keep you in my prayers!
