I think that one is fine. Is it flourescent tube you are talking about? I've use it for my iguana for 3 years and had no problems with it. :)

Sorry to say this but ignore the other poster.

The one you have is the bad one, only good ones are Reptisun 10 FLourescent and the Reptisun 5.

Make sure it's reptiSUN and it's flourescent and you will be fine.

from what ive read on this site as well as others, ANY compact fluorescent is inappropriate for bearded dragons. appearently the curvature of the bulb causes some glare issues and can lead to eye problems.

i may just be another caresheet warrior but i'd suggest sticking with either a ReptiSun 10.0 linear fluorescent tube AND a bright white heat source or better yet, a Mercury Vapor Bulb(which provides both).

*EDIT* whoops, a mod beat me to it  .

Actually, a mercury vapor bulb isn't an option for a 5 gallon tank, they shouldn't be used on anything smaller than a 40 gallon because they get very hot and put out a lot of ultra violet rays. You'd be better off with a Repti-Sun 10.0 fluorescent strip bulb that you can get at http://www.petmountain.com at a very reasonable price.

Never mind what I said.... I thought she meant the flourescent tube not the compact one for some reason. :)

I don't know which part of the world you're in but theres another option for you try apart from the Repti-Sun 10.0-
The Arcadia D3 fluorescent is also very good value for money :D

Lol. I'm sure there's plenty of people who call their BD Smaug.
Smaug is the name of the dragon from The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien if you didn't know

Hey! I'm planning on ordering a 4x2x2 for my next beardie but I'm worried about lighting. I have a UVA and a UVB but they are small (the UVA just being a bulb and the UVB being 12 ish inches?) My house is drafty so I need a strong light that puts off quite a good amount of heat, any suggestions?
