My beardie is almost a year old now and is became very lazy in the past 2 months. Before this he would scratch on the glass in the morning and when he saw I had crickets. Now he just sits in the corner of his tank in the shade of a hammock. I have a 100w basking bulb and 10.0 desert uvb flourescent bulb. I also dust his crickets. Is this normal for a beardie this age? Oh and he doesn't eat his greens too much either, only some nibbles in the morning. I usually feed him collard greens, blueberries, and strawberries. He doesn't even chase crickets anymore, I have to hand feed him. Besides this he appears very healthy and is active outside of his cage. Is there anything I can do to change this behavior? Or is it normal and it will go away soon enough?
I'm seeing similar behavior in my 1.5 year old dragon. He is not eating much and naps all the time. I think he is getting ready to brumate soon. I have found him on the cool side of the viv on many occasions. It's hard not to worry when they slow down, so I keep telling myself that it has to be brumation.
i had a rescue from petco, we expect to just give him a nice place to die but after a few weeks of having to force feed him he turned round. well fast forward a year and he was the laziest punk i ever saw when it came to food. you could place worms infront of him and he would just look up at you like "human, why are you not putting these in my mouth? these go in my mouth you know, not on the floor stupid!"
he was decently active outside and out of his tank and while running around with his GF but just lethargic with feeding. only way we ever got him to eat was to make a beardie salad, lots of greens and such mixed with worms and topped with beardie crack.
