I am just about to seal my DIY structures and I'm debating on what kind of sealant to use. I used mod podge on my last set and the poop seemed to stain it and hard to scrub off.
I found this Epoxy Acrylic Sealant and I was wondering if this would work and it if works, would it be better than mod podge
Standard mod podge doesn't hold up well to moisture, however they also make "hardcoat" and "outdoor" varieties that are much more moisture resistant. Additionally you can use Polycrylic or water based polyurethane.
That epoxy paint appears to be water based...which is good. If you use it, make sure to let it cure for at least a week. If you can still smell residual fumes it needs more time to cure. Honestly, epoxy paints aren't that common for vivs...so you're charting uncharted territory. I know they use all sorts of epoxies for amphibian and snake enclosures (due to extra moisture), but those are true 2 part epoxies. Epoxy paints can be hit or miss. They do make epoxy spray paint that actually mixes the hardener and the resin as it leaves the can...giving you a true epoxy finish without much fuss. Might be something to look into.
