Hey guys so I’m trying to start my own dubia colony cas crickets were just rediculous. Right now I currently have 3 gravid females brooding their egg casings already, a couple adult males and 100 or so small nympths. I have coming in the mail 22 more adult females, 20 adult males (most to use for feeding while waiting for the colony to grow) and 200 mixed nympths from baby to sub adult. Anyways, I was just wondering if yall think that will be sufficient to start a colony somewhat quickly? I know these guys take months to mature but I’m tired of buying bugs!! Haha.
yes, that will be plently to start a colony. I started off with only 50 mixed adults and nymphs, and I am now up to thousands. it took me some time because i only had a few adults, but you will have plently.
I bought 9 adult females and 3 males, and 300 mixed nymphs. I feed my baby the smalls and my 10 month old the mediums, and I have TONS of dubias.. they are like breeding machines.
YAY! Then I should have no problem getting a colony going. Thanks! I’m pretty sure most of the females are prego now so hopefully they start poppin’ the babies out soon lol.
haha I just bought some orange sliders and just had to give my babies each one to see what they thought!!!! lol!!!! my husband told me NO MORE they are too expensive to feed until you get them breeding!!!! silly boy!
