My new beardie's tail is darker than the rest of his body but only at the end. There is also a little notch at the end that looks like someone took a rubber band and put it around it (I don't think that is what happened it is just something to help visualize). Should I be concerned? Will his tail fall off? Is it normal?
It's common for their tails to be darkened. The crimp in the tail may be from an injury or a shed that didn't finish. If that area constricts the tail and cuts blood flow it's possible that the tail below that will fall off. Can you post some photos of it?
I see the little crimp. It's pretty far down. The tip may fall off or it may just stay as it is. Keep an eye out for open wounds or if the crimped area starts moving up the tail making it look shriveled. That may indicate a larger issue. A crimp at the end is pretty common though and I wouldn't worry about it too much in itself.
My dragon has a "bend" in her tail like yours does. She got it when she was a baby and now she is 2, she still has it. It doesn't seem to bother her any.
My beardie has the same exact end on her tail. I asked my vet about it, and he says it's super common and normal for the tip to look a bit crooked, unless there are open wounds and the scales aren't forming, you should be fine!
