How are you getting those temps? Is you ambient temp taken by analog ? You need to get your surface basking temps 95-100 taken w a digital probe thermometer- 90 is to hot I agree- does the temp drop when you go w/ the dimmer? You may haft to lower the wattage of the basking bulb-- and work / temps manually for now- the hot room is going to effect those temps-- is the room sunny?

1. You can lower the bulb wattage
2. Get a mini desk fan to offset and place it near the tank and that typically helps

i take my temps with a temp gun for now, it definitely drops. ill probably get a lower wattage bulb. my room isnt very sunny i usually have the blinds closed. my dad told me to turn the lamp off for an hour or two during the day, is that fine?

Lower the wattage first- does he have good ventilation? Is it a solid top or screen - I would not shut the basking light off we need to figure out another way - gonna get some more help

i have a soild top and only ventilation on the sides and back. ill probably get more ventilation on on the cool side since i didnt realize it was a problem until now.

It's retaining the heat- lower the bulb wattage and watch what it does - then if it's still too hot you will need to ventilate it more- you want low 80's on cool side

It can be tough to deal with seasonal fluctuations in room temps. It usually winds up being a combination of adjusting bulb wattage and airflow. if you need to turn the bulf off for a little while during the day, that's OK, but I'd look into using a lower wattage during the summer if you wind up turning it off frequently. The other thing to do is increase airflow. If you can get a fan (or mount a computer fan to the side of the enclosure high on the warm side) you could blow air away from the hot side which should draw cooler air in through the vents low on the cool side. It may take some testing and creativity to get things just right. It's OK to shoot for "close enough" as long as there is still a decent temperature gradient in the enclosure.

Always keep the lights on the right heat and UVB rays for your reptile's specific needs while keeping the temperature under control. Reducing the brightness of the lamp can help reduce the amount of heat released, but make sure it still provides the required temperature gradient.

How big is your tank? Small tanks are more difficult to provide a temperature gradient. Can you maybe post a picture of it?

If you have a fan in your room I’d turn that on

Hey! I'm planning on ordering a 4x2x2 for my next beardie but I'm worried about lighting. I have a UVA and a UVB but they are small (the UVA just being a bulb and the UVB being 12 ish inches?) My house is drafty so I need a strong light that puts off quite a good amount of heat, any suggestions?
cookie event at my library today, quite fun! Made some bracelets for my comrades too, to give them at church in the morning. Got a busy day tomorrow even though I’m off work… i go back on tuesday so atleast I’ll have 2 days off to rewind….then back to hell lol
The head tilt tho! Aaaahhh
