I've had my Bearded Dragons for about 3 years now and one of them laid over 20 eggs the other day. I'm not really sure how many more, since she buried them in her log. How long until they might start hatching? Do I have to make an incubator or can I leave them in there with them? They both have been laying on the eggs at night. Their cage is usually at 80 degrees. I really don't want to disturb them. I was planning on setting up a 10 gal tank for those that hatch, since I'm guessing the adults would eat them.
I could be wrong, but I haven't heard of anyone successfully hatching eggs in the tank with the parents. First of all, if the parents are laying and stepping on them, they can change the orientation of the egg and smother the embryo. But the even bigger issue is humidity levels. Eggs need to be kept at 81-86 degrees F and 80-85 % humidity in order for the embryos to develop. How long have they been in the tank? I think it may be too late for this clutch if they have been moved and dried out, but I'm not an expert. Someone here may be able to give you some different advice. I hope it works out for you.
My guess is that the eggs are probably already collapsing due to lack of humidity. I guess the only way to know for sure is to carefully uncover them and take a look. Eggs usually incubate for 8-11 weeks (I think that's the average) with around 60 days being common. I really don't know what to tell you, I usually hear about people losing clutches that were laid in the tank at night or while they were at work. Hopefully someone else will have better info for you. Let us know what happens.
